Volunteer Centre East Staffordshire are working in Partnership with Job Centre Plus to deliver outreach support to HMP Dovegate as part of their pre release course for offenders. The aims of this tweleve month project are below.

Aims;

• Provide outreach support to HMP Dovegate Prisoners due to be released through exploring the barriers that stop them from entering the labour market, accessing training or voluntary opportunities

• Ensure the diagnostic information collated is provided to the prisoners in order for them to share the information with service providers when upon release, including Job Centre Plus

• Support Offenders and Ex-offenders in furthering their journey into entering the labour market; through advice, training, support and signposting

• Signpost individuals to support services that will help address the issues that are linked to keeping individuals from entering the labour market.    

• Provide the opportunity for ex-offenders to be able to access voluntary opportunities- up skilling themselves to be in a better position to enter the labour market

• Ensure offenders at Dovegate prison are given the support needed in able to better position them for when they enter back into society and look to progress into the labour market
